On October 10th, "Magic Frank" Everhart was helping his elderly mother clean her apartment, using a new Lysol product with hydrogen peroxide. As he cleaned the blades of a ceiling fan, dust which had soaked up the solution fell into both of Frank's eyes. He immediately flushed them repeatedly with water, and believed he had gotten the solution and dust out of his eyes. He awoke in the middle of the night with severe burning in his eyes, and was rushed to Bascomb Palmer hospital in Miami where he learned both of his corneas had been burned severely. At first it was believed he might not ever see again. The prognosis has improved and doctors are hopeful that within a year Frank will have limited use of his right and left eyes, although some surgery may be necessary to repair scar tissue. Currently he is legally blind and needs continual care, unable to work. Frank is a master "bar magician" and has amazed people at Key West's iconic Schooner Wharf Bar for over 20 years. Known and loved as a compassionate man who has spent his life always helping others, rising to the occasion whenever asked to support others in need, it is time now to help this selfless, vibrant "magic man" who has given so much to so many and is now in need of our love, care and support.
